Mountain bike
The Mountain Bike, or MTB (Mountain Trail Bike), among the different types of bikes, is ideal for those who love contact with nature including mountain climbing, unexplored paths, breathtaking descents, always looking for strong emotions in the mountains, in the hills and on all dirt roads.
HOW IT WORKS
Compared to other types of bikes (which we talked about here), the mountain bike is characterized by resistance and lightness, necessary qualities to guarantee maximum fun with perfect grip and optimized control on all types of terrain, especially on bumpy ones both on steep climbs, slippery terrain and steep descents.
The characteristic qualities of a mountain bike of strength and lightness are reflected on the frame, in carbon or aluminum, and on the wheels and tires that are wider and more grooved than traditional bicycles, to allow you to tackle all types of trails.
But the real heart of a mountain bike are the suspensions and shock absorbers: depending on the different positions in which they can be mounted and the type of activity you want to practice, they define the different types of mountain bikes. The main ones are:
MTB Hardtail, in which the shock absorber is mounted on the front fork.
They are ideal when the climbs and descents are fairly balanced and the trails are easy to walk, such as in cross country.
Very suitable for beginners due to its light weight and because it allows you to easily learn the correct driving technique.
MTB Full Suspension has shock absorbers both in the front and in the rear and is definitely more technical than the Hardtrail.
It is ideal for steep descents or, in general, for steep slopes with natural obstacles and even very rough terrain. This type includes All Mountain mountain bikes.
Downhill bikes feature a very sturdy frame, wider handlebars and more sophisticated front and rear suspension for faster acceleration and braking and greater stability and agility on steep descents and overcoming obstacles. You can find more information here, in the dedicated tab.
For your comfort and safety, wear special trousers, reinforced with a soft pad, and a helmet.
No specific shoes are needed.
You can tour alone, with friends, or, better yet, with a guide, who will take you directly to where it’s worth it.
I also recommend you try a few days bike tour.
WHEN TO GO
The whole year.
There are no atmospheric conditions that can slow down your desire to explore and mountain biking is definitely the ideal bike for dry but also muddy terrain.
ADRENALINE/7R
50 – 80%
is the minimum amount of DRD4-7R adventure gene that we think you should have to do this activity.
Take the test to find out how much% of 7R you have in your DNA.
