Climbing
Climbing, in all its variations, is a skill sport that requires a physical and mental balance and effort and agility.
If you don’t give up until you reach the goal, climbing is for you.
HOW IT WORKS
Climbing aims is to overcome various difficulties (environmental, technical, …) while climbing an obstacle, which can be a rock, an artificial wall, an urban structure, ice, …
It could be:
artificial, if you use artificial tools and instruments to progress on the climb.
Free if you only use hands and feet. The equipment has the sole purpose of limiting fall damages.
Both free and artificial climbing can be done solo or in rope and exploit many types of terrain: rock, ice, mixed, snow, indoor, trees.
Free climbing is divided into several disciplines:
Traditional: the routes are equipped for safety while climbing. The climber who goes up first equips the climb protecting himself and any companion with the necessary devices.
Sporty: it’s the ascent on an already equipped wall, that is, there are already nails, split or resin to which you can ensure as you go up.
Without insurance: this discipline includes bouldering, free solo and deep water soloing. Bouldering is carried out on small boulders up to 5-6 meters high; free solo consists of climbing without any equipment, not even safety equipment. The deep water solo is a free solo performed on a wall overlooking the water.
WHEN TO GO
Depending on the terrain you want to climb, climbing can be practiced all year round. Rock, snow, ice, …
But don’t underestimate the indoor, which is not used only as a workout.
